Low Carb Corn Dogs

With 4th of July right coming up, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity for me to share my low carb corn dog recipe. It is easy to make and would be fun to make with kids. I first made this recipe about a year ago with my niece, who really enjoyed it. I think I became her favorite Auntie that day (lol). If you try this recipe let me know what you think in the comments below: )

1 cup carbqick
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
3 tablespoon Great Value popping corn
2 teaspoon truvia
1 large egg, beaten
3/4 cup of half and half
7 hot dogs cut in half

2.9 Carbs Each One!!!

Sorry Cathy, I should probably remove that lol. Any popcorn will do. Great Value is the Walmart brand ha!

  2. Cathy F. says:

Is great value popcorn a brand name or is it a type of popcorn? I just want to know if I can use any popcorn kernels I have in the cupboard.

    Thanks Jay!

    Hi Naomi,

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I have never had hush puppies. Let do some research and I will get back to you on this real soon: )

    Hi Jay,

Been following you for a while, but just haven’t chimed in. I made your flax bread and it was so good! Thanks a bunch for helping us out in the weight loss department. With that out of the way, do you think you can make hush puppies out of this batter? Thanks in advance.

  6. Jay says:

yes it is unpopped corn kernels, right out of the bag.

  7. Keith Leslie says:

The popcorn meal, is that with unpopped popcorn or do you pop it first?

  8. Trisha says:

I love pork rinds but have not enjoyed their flavor when used as a binder or coating.

  9. Jay says:

Great Jack, please let me know how it turns out 🙂

  10. Jack Russell says:

I will use ground pork rinds with parmesan or another powdered cheese mix to take the place of carbquik and the popcorn, also heavy cream vs the half and half. I will let you know how it turns out. I use Splenda, not truia but that is my personal choice. I have used the pork rinds/cheese mix in the past for fried chicken and it works great. I enjoy your videos on youtube. See, you really do have a following 😉

  11. Jay says:

Please come back and let me know how it turns out using the coffee grinder.

  12. CJ Johnson says:

Interesting, I’ll try it. Hope my coffee grinder survives the popcorn:)
